Listening In
Just a natural connection!
Listening to Inner Guidance, Spirit, Higher Self, Source, Higher Mind are just some of the terms I’ve used to define the connection to all-knowing guidance. We probably all have our own associations with each of these words. At different times, I’ve felt their distinct connotations and have also used them interchangeably. The circumstance, the day, or the information received can warrant using a specific word, yet the messages all filter down from the Field of Larger Consciousness.
As Spirit’s wisdom is filtered through mind and mental chatter, it still holds great meaning when spoken with our Personal Higher Self’s voice. I find that voice very accessible in a Quantum Healing Hypnosis (QHHT®) session, and maybe even less filtered, since our conscious mind recedes in a session, and often disappears.
As a QHHT practitioner, I experience that connection as an ongoing current of information coming through me on behalf of the person/client I’m supporting. I’m not channeling for the person. I am a facilitator and advocate who supports each client to connect to his/her/their own inner guidance, their Higher Self. images, messages, healing, guidance and information come through from the voice of the client’s Higher Self and deeply experienced.
Dolores Cannon, who founded this modality, first called the Higher Self the “subconscious” and explained that it was a term she used to refer to the “much larger, more powerful and more knowledgeable portion” of ourselves.
I appreciate that QHHT is a mindful and deeply intuitive kind of facilitation. An example of this is this one aspect of the QHHT process: Conversing with Higher Self.
I’ll explain this ‘conversation’ from a client’s perspective, as I have also received a few QHHT sessions. At the ‘conversing’ point in the session, Higher Self inevitably speaks in third person through the person having the session, giving its wisdom.
So when my Higher Self spoke in third person, about me, giving profound spot-on information, clarity, advice and I experienced how my life would be by embodying that, I felt humbled and certain. And it all stayed with me.
In the facilitator chair, I’m in full heart-coherence with the other person. I know how to ask their Higher Self follow-up questions beyond what the person brings in to me, so that the most relevant and important information and guidance for their lives come through.
Knowing how to follow up also comes about from our two-hour conversation before the session. I learn a lot about who the person is and their intentions. We also deepen their questions for the session together.
The conversation with Higher Self is just that, one’s wise self, connected to a neutral and kind guidance (fierce too) can also get kind of humorous as I prod it to get the most healing I can for a person. We have a good old time, even bantering. Whether I get compliance or whether their Higher Self tells me things like, “Not at this time”, when I ask for something on behalf of the client. I eventually comply myself, always respecting what Higher Self says it can or will do, and what is right for the person at that time.
Altogether the session is 4–5 glorious hours, including the regular conversation I have with the person beforehand.
As a retired SF City College instructor, I am blessed with time now to do this practice at my leisure. I so loved my work as a teacher, the students, my colleagues, and even my final role as coordinator, but I heard the voice (which I now call Higher Self) say “NOW!” in relation to retiring. With some resistance and surprise, I listened and retired. It was just before COVID, by the way….Good timing!
In fact, perhaps it was a seamless setup by Spirit as I pursued all things intuitive, eventually practicing QHHT. Truly when I’m more connected to my deep guidance unfettered by fearful, anxious chatter, the set up comes through via synchronicities.
This practice has also fine-tuned my own connection. I’ve learned how to distinguish and trust what the voice of Higher Self feels and sounds like. At challenging times I still may question that voice, when ego fights me, insisting that the multitude of spiritual experiences I’ve had since youth are no more than empirical episodes or when I slip back into an old reaction. I’m grateful that those times are now more short-lived and I eventually adjust to Higher Mind’s truth.
Whether I call it listening to Spirit, Higher Self, Higher Mind, or inner guidance, it feels Glorious to keep trusting and growing towards deeper and more natural connection.
